Before starting his career in finance, Gerry owned and operated a motel in Wells, Maine, continuing a family legacy in New England hospitality.
In the early 1980's, he launched his financial career at Tax Man in Cambridge, MA as a tax preparations specialist. Over the next 20 years, he proved his value as an insightful and innovative financial strategist. He created and oversaw Tax Bridge, Tax Man's Financial and Retirement division. Ultimately, he came to manage all the company's 24 office locations.
In 1998, Gerry left Tax Man and founded Garon Financial because he knew his clients would be better served if he went independent. He felt that his obligation to shareholder expectations at his large firm held clients back from their full financial potential.
Gerry established Garon Financial with the same sense of opportunity he brought to his prior business endeavors, and, with the same convictions. He wanted to relieve the burden of managing a large firm and focus on his clients—to get at the roots of their financial issues to fundamentally change outcomes in people’s lives. He saw building his enterprise as one of the most effective ways to realize individual promise for himself and his clients.
Now retired, Gerry has passed the management of Garon Financial to his eldest son Ken, who continues to grow the company with comprehensive financial planning and a client-first mentality.
Gerry loves golf, relaxing at his lake house in Maine, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
